Virginia High School Pharmacy Technician Initiative The Virginia High School Pharmacy Technician Initiative was created by the Virginia Pharmacists Association with support from the Virginia Career Education Foundation. This Initiative provides a shining example of the work we do to promote career and technical education at the high school level. By facilitating the development of quality pharmacy technician courses that prepare students for taking state and national certification exams, this Initiative seeks to expand the number of certified pharmacy technicians throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Moreover, this Initiative encourages and promotes mentoring programs within the private sector that play a key role in preparing students for careers in pharmacy. In addition, through exciting promotional materials geared specifically to today’s youth, this Initiative seeks to create awareness and to expel myths about technical careers while simultaneously promoting a positive image of career and technical education for students. By addressing issues of great importance, such as the availability of pharmacy technician training courses, the lack of widespread awareness and the need for mentoring programs, the Virginia High School Pharmacy Technician Initiative actively responds to the increasing demand for certified technicians facing our workforce today. To learn more about this Initiative, how you can help and how you can participate, please visit the Virginia Pharmacists Association. |
