Students and Parents

There’s a world of exciting opportunity available through career and technical education. You might not know this, but roughly 60% of all jobs available in Virginia are found in the technical sector. These jobs are not what you might think… they are well-paying, career-track positions with a lot of room for lateral mobility and career advancement. The best part is, employers in the technical sector desperately need well-trained people to fill these positions, and that means certified technical workers have the upper hand in the job hunt.

We at the Virginia Career Education Foundation are here to help you discover all of these opportunities as well as to inform you about all the career and technical education (CTE) available to students in Virginia public schools. On this website you can find and access lots of information about CTE, from courses in your area to contact information for CTE staff at the Department of Education, you’ll find it right here. We will continue to expand this website and add more helpful information on an ongoing basis, and soon, we plan to have a special section just for you students!

So browse away… and then let us know if you have any questions or would like to make any suggestions about how this website can be a dynamic tool for discovering and accessing the wide world of CTE!
